Hazardous Waste
Almost all business will have some waste that is classified as ‘Hazardous’ and come under the ‘Hazardous Waste Regulations

2005’ which replaced the ‘Special Waste Regulations 1996’.
Examples of typical Hazardous Waste include:
Infectious Healthcare Matter
Acids
Batteries
Solvents
Paint
Florescent Tubes
If your premises produce more then 200 kg of Hazardous Waste in a twelve month period, you must register your premises with the Environment Agency and they will issue with a ‘Premise Code’ which will be used on paperwork for each consignment of Hazardous Waste dispatched from your premises.
Your Waste and Hygieco
You need only classify your Clinical Waste as HAZARDOUS, if a healthcare professional, such as a Doctor, Nurse or Surgeon informed you that the waste is infected.
